SIM Information System — Everything You Need to Know
The SIM Information System in Pakistan is a centralized system developed by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to help citizens monitor and manage the mobile SIM cards registered in their name.
With the rise of mobile communication, ensuring that no unauthorized SIMs are registered on your CNIC is crucial for your personal security.
What is the SIM Information System?
It is a digital platform that connects the databases of all mobile operators (Jazz, Telenor, Zong, Ufone) with the PTA. It allows any citizen to verify the total number of active SIMs against their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).
How to Access the System
There are two main ways to use the SIM Information System:
1. The Online Portal (Free)
- Open your web browser and go to 'cnic.sims.pk'.
- Enter your CNIC number without dashes.
- Verify the captcha.
- The system will display a table showing the count of SIMs on each network.
2. Via SMS (Charges Apply)
- Open your SMS app.
- Type your CNIC number (no dashes).
- Send it to 668.
- You will receive a text message with the breakdown of SIMs registered to your CNIC.
Why You Should Use It Regularly
- Prevent Identity Theft: Someone could use a SIM in your name to commit fraud.
- Stay Within the Limit: PTA allows a maximum of 5 active voice SIMs per CNIC.
- Verify Blocked SIMs: Check here to see if the count has decreased.
