CNIC SIM Check — How to Verify SIM Ownership

In Pakistan, the rule is clear: an individual can have a maximum of 5 active SIM cards registered on their CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card) at any given time. But do you know exactly how many SIMs are registered in your name right now?

Performing a cnic sim check regularly is a critical step in protecting your identity and ensuring no one is using a SIM in your name for illegal activities.

How to Check SIMs on CNIC (Online Method)

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has made it very easy to check your SIM count online.

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Go to the official PTA SIM Information System website: 'cnic.sims.pk'.
  2. You will see a box asking for your CNIC.
  3. Enter your 13-digit CNIC number (without any hyphens or spaces).
  4. Complete the simple captcha verification.
  5. Click the Submit button.

Within seconds, a table will appear on your screen showing the count of SIMs registered against your CNIC for each mobile operator:

  • Jazz
  • Telenor
  • Ufone
  • Zong

How to Check via SMS (Offline Method)

If you do not have internet access, you can also check your SIM count via SMS.

  1. Open your messaging app.
  2. Type your CNIC number (without dashes).
  3. Send it to 668.
  4. You will receive a text message with the count of SIMs registered on your CNIC.

Note: SMS charges apply for this service.

What to Do If You Find Unknown SIMs?

If the count on the screen or in the SMS is higher than the number of SIMs you actually use, someone else might be using a SIM registered in your name. This is a serious security risk.

Action Steps:

  1. Visit the Franchise: Go to the nearest customer service center or franchise of the specific telecom operator.
  2. Bring Your CNIC: You must bring your original physical CNIC.
  3. Request Biometric Verification/Surrender: Ask them to verify your active SIMs and block/surrender the ones you do not recognize. They will use biometric verification (your fingerprint) to confirm your identity.
